HE Academic Support

Academic Support provides study support to students with a range of learning differences: 

  • dyslexia, dyspraxia (DCD) and other specific learning diffculties (SpLDs)
  • ADD/ADHD and autism spectrum conditions
  • long term mental health dfficulties and conditions 
  • visual impairments
  • hearing impairment and D/deaf students
  • physical disabilities and/or long term health conditions

The Academic Support Team offers:

  • Confidential, informal discussions about dyslexia and other specific learning differences or disabilities 
  • Screening for those who think that they might be dyslexic but have never been assessed, through Quickscan.
  • Support with arranging Educational Psychologists’ assessments and applying for Disabled Students’ Allowances
  • Regular academic support sessions for students receiving Disabled Student Allowances to support you with managing your studies.
  • General study skills sign up tutorials for help with research, written work and organising your workload are available on a first come, first served basis throughout the academic year. 

Covid-19 - blended learning support

During this time, in line with social distancing guidelines and University health and safety policy,  Academic Support and Disability Advice will offer support remotely, via Google Meet/Hangouts, with limited face to face appointments, to ensure we deliver support safely.
