Quality Office
The Quality Office manages and oversees policies and procedures to assure the standards of our awards and the quality of learning opportunities and to support the enhancement of learning and teaching.
The Quality Office is responsible for ensuring that the College's quality assurance policies and procedures are robust and effective in maintaining and monitoring the standards of our academic awards and in supporting the enhancement of the student learning experience.
The Quality Office manages key quality assurance processes, including course design and approval; annual course evaluation; student feedback systems; the external examining system; and periodic reviews and external reviews and audits.
The Office works closely with academic and business support teams across the College, including the Senior Management Team, course teams, administration and the Students' Union.
We provide information and guidance on quality assurance at Leeds College of Art, primarily through the Quality Handbook and the various policies and procedures available on these web pages. It also offers information, training and advice to staff and students on the different processes.
Quality Handbook
The Quality Handbook provides an overview of the College's framework for managing academic quality and standards. The handbook is addressed to those with particular responsibility for delivering academic courses within the higher education provision: directors of studies; programme directors, course leaders; subject leaders; module leaders and lecturers. The handbook is also relevant to other staff involved in student support, registry and administration, the library, human resources and widening participation. The handbook is available to students and their representatives, as a source of information about the processes that underlie the management of standards and quality.
The Quality Handbook is kept under regular review. Operational responsibility for its maintenance rests with the Quality & Standards Office, overseen by the HEQAS Committee and reported to the Academic Board.
The Quality Handbook 2016-17 can be found here.
(Please note the handbook has not been updated with new titles following recent structural changes - an updated version will be made available in due course).
