Meet the Quality Office

Richard Sadler – Head of Academic Enhancement and Development - 8122 

Richard provides leadership and guidance on course design and development, supports the development and implementation of processes of good practice and innovation, and enhances the quality of the student learning experience. Richard is currently implementing the Learning, Teaching and Enhancement Plan 2017-2023 including the development of a Learning and Teaching Handbook. 

Nina Spencer - Deputy Academic Registrar (Quality Assurance and Standards) – 8154 

Nina is responsible for the management of the University’s quality assurance and standards. She supports the University in the development and implementation of new policies, practices and procedures, which enable the University to assure itself of the quality and standards of courses.

Daniel Styran-Furness – HE Quality & Standards Officer – 8149 

Daniel facilitates the course design, development, approval, and review processes and supports the development of effective quality assessment and quality assurance systems. He is currently managing the course approvals/periodic reviews of seven courses and the appointment of external examiners for 2018-19. 

Amy Bissell – HE Quality Administrator – 8028 

Amy manages the administrative processes of the University’s academic quality and standards. She is currently the secretary of the Learning, Teaching, and Enhancement Committee, Further Education Committee, and Ethics Sub-Committee and managing the administrative processes related to peer review and course approvals/periodic reviews. 

Emily Hooper – HE Quality Administrator – 8014

Emily manages the administrative processes of the University’s academic quality and standards. She is currently the secretary of the Academic Board, Higher Education Quality & Standards Committee, and Research Committee and managing the administrative processes related to external examiners. 

The Quality Handbook

The Quality Handbook provides an overview of the University's framework for managing academic quality and standards. The handbook is addressed to those with particular responsibility for delivering academic courses within the higher education provision including Pro-Vice-Chancellors, Programme Directors, Course Leaders, Subject Leaders, Module Leaders and Lecturers.

HE Learning, Teaching and Enhancement Plan

The plan developed from the former Learning, Teaching and Enhancement Strategy and incorporates the strategic aims of the University. The plan includes measurements of impacts for improvements to engagement with students, assessment and feedback, approaches to technology in learning and teaching, international and global reach, and staff development in learning and teaching.
